What is a PIO?
The Public Information Officer is responsible for internal and external communication, and may be assigned to community outreach, media relations, social media or information center operations. PIOs are the first-line contact for all levels of media and the public on an incident and may be involved in multiple levels within the Command organization.
The Goal of the Public Information Officer is to get the RIGHT information to the RIGHT people at the RIGHT time so they can make the RIGHT decisions.

A member is eligible to join the PIO program as long as they are the rank of Firefighter 1+ (Volunteer Firefighter 1+) and agree to the terms and conditions of employment.

Why join PIO?
Why join PIO?
PIOs have the ability to make a difference in or out of server.
In server, PIOs are responsible for sharing life-saving information, thus helping other members make decisions about their patrols.
Out of server, PIOs assist with recruitment and retention of members for the department and community. They supply stories and pictures to be shared on X and used in various FD related projects.
